Indigenous Balance
Artfully finding ways to balance modern life with our deepest self
Every experience a person has had in their life is a potential resource that lives within their body. No matter what a person’s cultural background is, and no matter where they call home, every person can move into Indigenous Balance. Finding this balance comes from learning to reshape the complicated realities of living in the modern, colonized world, with a connection to where and how we live our daily lives.
Samantha’s approach offers self sovereignty. Individuals connect to the deeper story of their life and begin to make sense of their experiences. This helps them move into an embodied, more balanced awareness. Movement/dance, anatomy, drawing, journaling, and performance are used to understand our place in the world. Participants are led through sacred spaces of self created ritual which act as a vehicle for healing and transformation.
Samantha’s life experiences, training, and education come together to foster healing and transformation. She embraces her unique foundation in life as an enrolled member of the Tlingit Nation, to enhance your experience with Indigenous psychology and wisdom. Your body holds great wisdom. It holds experience in your personal life along with your connection to the ancestors. Movement is a universal language that transcends colonized language. Artistic practices are used as individual expressions of self. Using movement and art allows modern people to step outside of colonization and begin to move back to a place of Indigenous Balance. This work offers therapeutic experiences outside of an office and can easily be adapted to the natural environment, with individual or group participation.
